Camp ELECT Program

11-31 July 2017

Students aged 11-17 are welcome to enroll for this session of Camp ELECT. This program specializes in English Language Education and Cultural Training for students who want to improve their English via immersion. Students will advance their English, learn outdoor skills, and experience authentic Australian culture on Australia's beautiful South Coast!

All students who register receive a complementary one-on-one video meeting and evaluation by a Camp ELECT teacher. Students who attend camp will have access to ongoing education online. Lessons taught by an ELECT teacher will be offered online, via an English education company based in China.

In class, students will gain confidence speaking in front of their peers and to their teachers. They will improve their grammar, vocabulary, listening skills and reading comprehension. There are a minimum of 26 class hours per week. Students will also be challenged to speak English during activities, meals, and all city tours.

Camp ELECT's experienced English teachers are TESOL/ TOFL certified, and are also outdoor education specialists who facilitate thrilling activities while ensuring student safety is a top priority.

All staff and teachers are native English speakers who integrate immersive English learning with activities to provide a fun language travel experience. Activities are run by experienced staff who are trained and qualified in their field.

A bilingual chaperone will be available to ensure clear communication. Camp provides one chaperone and one teacher for every 15 students attending camp.

Student accommodations are comfortable bunk cabins with shared bathroom facilities. There is a large dining hall, recreation room, cinema, laser tag battlefield, and an in-ground trampoline. Teachers and staff will have separate cabins close by.

We offer full catering services: 3 meals a day, with morning and afternoon snacks. All meals will be balanced and nutritious. Most will be Australian cuisine but there will be some variety included for a taste of home. Please notify the camp of any dietary requirements or allergies and we will ensure your child's needs are met.

The Australian adventure begins in the country's capital: Canberra. We'll spend two days visiting museums and touring the sites with fellow students and staff.

On day 3, the group will take a private bus about two hours east to our new home at Camp Longbeach, where English classes and outdoor activities take place together.

Students will experience an overnight campout, visit an Australian farm, and learn about Australian animals at the wildlife park.

We wrap up our time together with a 3-day tour of Sydney, Australia's largest city. See the sights, climb tall heights, learn the city's history, take a photo in front of the famous Opera House, and sail across Sydney Harbor.

Students will participate in many activities. They will develop wilderness and survival skills like preparing a campsite, planning an overnight campout, building a campfire, and preparing a real Australian BBQ!
